  1. This petition has been granted! Student Life would anyway have wanted the house government to approve the decision. But DSL’s mural-review group *may* well advise the new residents that the murals are an “attractive nuisance” in that they “foreseeably attract” unwanted former residents and alumni. Here’s a solution that ought to make everyone happy, though—
    *Supplemental Petition*
“We are writing … to request that Student Life protect the murals in perpetuity by having Housing Operations apply an anti-graffiti clear coat before painting them over.”
Reference: DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities, “MuralsDC Wall Donation, Application, and Agreement Forms,” 2017 (“I agree to allow Project Staff to apply anti-graffiti clear coat to protect the completed Mural from future damage.”)
Technical note: You have to roughen the surface slightly to keep the new paint from peeling off.
